Flute/Piccolo

Winners of the 2008 RSAMD Governor's Chamber Music Prize, Flutes en Route is a dynamic new flute quartet formed in 2007 by students at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Flutes en Route have toured across the UK, most recently performing at St James’ Palace for Prince Charles. The quartet are committed to expanding the repertoire for this combination of instruments and in March 2008 premiered a new work "Fl(ut)ing" written for them by eminent Scottish composer Rory Boyle.

After only one month of playing together they were accepted onto the "Live Music Now" scheme. The "Live Music Now" scheme aims to provide young musicians with paid performance opportunities and support in professional development at the start of their careers. In collaboration with Live Music Now, Flutes en Route will be able to help people access the joy of live music in venues such as schools for children with special needs, centres for adults with physical and learning disabilities, homes for older people, young offenders institutions, prisons, hospitals and hospices.
